Great Britain, Italy and the Netherlands remain with a perfect record after two days, with wins over South Africa, Czech Republic and Spain respectively. France earned its first win of the tournament against Botswana. Great Britain and the Netherlands already clinched their ticket to the Super Round.
The Netherlands won today their second game of the tournament and qualified to the Super Round of the Softball Qualifier, starting on Friday. The host team defeated Spain, 7-0, in five innings, and remains unbeaten in Group A.
Thanks to a great performance by pitcher Greta Cecchetti, Italy beat Czech Republic 2-0 in the second game of the Group B and remained undefeated at the Softball Qualifier Europe Africa in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Italy scored the first point in the second inning with a double by Giulia Longhi and added the 2-0 lead in the sixth.
Great Britain grabbed their second win of the tournament with a 15-0 win over South Africa. The European team scored 10 runs in the first inning and later another five to secure the victory.
France collected their first victory of the Softball Qualifier after a comfortable 11-2 win over Botswana. Kimane Rogron led the French offense with 3 hits, and pitcher Sarah Benchali got the win.
Today the first day of competition for the Softball Qualifier held in Utrecht. Great Britain, Italy, Czech Republic and host Netherlands won their games at Sportpark Paperclip and will play the second day of the tournament with a winning record.
The Netherlands beat South Africa 11-1 in 4 innings in the last game of the first day of the Softball Qualifier Europe/Africa in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The Dutch offense combined for 12 hits, including 5 doubles. Ilona Andringa got the win, Grivonna Rhoda the loss.
Czech Republic opened their Softball Qualifier campaign with a 6-1 victory over France, in the third game of the day at Sportpark Paperclip, in Utrecht.
Italy won their first game of the Softball Qualifier, defeating Botswana 7-0 in 5 innings. The combined efforts of Italian pitchers Greta Cecchetti and Ilaria Cacciamani produced a No-Hitter.
Nerissa Myers hit two homeruns to guide Great Britain to a 9-2 victory in 6 innings over Spain in the first game of the Softball Qualifier. Tomorrow, Great Britain will face South Africa, while Spain will take on Netherlands.
