Today the first day of competition for the Softball Qualifier held in Utrecht. Great Britain, Italy, Czech Republic and host Netherlands won their games at Sportpark Paperclip and will play the second day of the tournament with a winning record.

Spain 2-9 Great Britain
Nerissa Myers hit two homers to guide Great Britain to a 9-2 victory in 6 innings over Spain in the first game of the tournament.
Tomorrow Great Britain will face South Africa at 13.00, while Spain will take on Netherlands at 19.00.
Botswana 0-7 Italy
Italy won the first game of their Softball Qualifier campaign, defeating Botswana 7-0 in 5 innings. Italian pitchers Greta Cecchetti and Ilaria Cacciamani combined for a No-Hitter, with 13 strikeouts and only one hit by pitch allowed.
Tomorrow Botswana will take on France at 10.00, while Italy will face Czech Republic at 16.00.
France 1-6 Czech Republic
Czech Republic opened with a 6-1 victory over France, in the third game of the day at Sportpark Paperclip, in Utrecht. Starter Veronika Peckova was brilliant from the circle, allowing only 1 hit.
Tomorrow both teams will play at 4 p.m. local time. France will take on Botswana at 10 a.m.
South Africa 1-11 Netherlands
The Netherlands beat South Africa 11-1 in 4 innings in the last game of day one at the Softball Qualifier. The Dutch offense combined for 12 hits, including 5 doubles. Ilona Andringa from Team Netherlands got the win.
Tomorrow South Africa will face Great Britain at 13.00, while the Netherlands will take on Spain at 19.00.
